Birth of Venus sculpture - Birth of Venus : Rewired
My birth of Venus rewired sculpture is a 3-D sculpture of the famous painting by Sandro Botocelli, I incorporated the medium of wires and cardboard into this work and gave each of the four figures in my sculpture more defined qualities than each other to emphasize what they were doing. Venus herself i emphasized the waving of her hair and her protecting herself, whereas with the zephyrs I shown them blowing and holding each other by using more wire to tighten their image and closeness, and build up on the male figures cheeks to show that he was exhaling, and for the woman on the right I stretched her legs more and gave a more rushed look on trying to cover Venus.

The Scream Sculpture
The scream was my first attempt at turning a famous painting into a sculpture, I used brass and aluminium wires and stapled the figure down onto cardboard and made the background of that resembling the original painting.
Casting
To begin casting, I made an object out of clay, in this case my own version of an Easter Island head. You have to make the features of it securely attached and have nothing inverted otherwise when you pull it out of the plaster cast mold it will break off.
After making the cast I had to mix water with plaster cast powder and stir until reaching the correct consistency and then coated the head all over in a giant lump, you then leave it to set and once set break it in half carefully, remove the head and then attach the two halves together again securely.
Once done, position the cast upside down and pour more plaster cast into the gap which the easter island head had been, leave to set and then open up the cast revealing a plaster cast replica of the object.

Dominic Wilcox
Dominic Wilcox uses sculpture with tinfoil to create extremely in detail miniature faces, his work looks extremely impressive due to the texture of the tin foil and how the faces arent cut off from the roll of tin foil shows how the sculpture is about the materials just as much as the overall appearance.
Wilcox may influence me with using tin foil as a I leave my metal wire sculptures hollow and with a skeletal frame, where as I might experiment with the texture of tin foil in my work.

Alexander Calder
Alexander Calder uses a very similar styled way of sculpting with metal that I use when making figures out of wire, in an stick man styled way, looking at his work has influenced that a lot and taught me better ways to achieve what I want to show the audiences compared to my previous techniques.
Calders work caught my eye because his work impressed me due to unlike a lot of different sculptures, he only shown the wire skeletal frame which wasn't filled in or covered with another material, I found that this showing it simpler also shown more detail.

Bruce Gray sculptures
Bruce Grays art work really appeals to me due to the amount of experimentation and free will shown in it, 'On the threshold of a dream' resembles both what you may expect to be hung from a babies crib yet also resembles what looks like an astronomical planet cycle.
Whereas his piece 'Cubicks 6' is much more abstract and may influence me by scarring the metal and having different patterns etched on to the materials themselves.

Donald Swartout
Donald Swartout uses sculpture to create comical stickmen styled looking men using metal found objects such as gears, nuts and bolts. He presents them on a metal stand which has also been found.
Swartouts work is influential on me due to being comical and involves some humour, lacking a lot of seriousness of art work which makes them easier to look at due to not having to enjoy them for their meaning, just to enjoy them for what they are.
He also makes abstract styled sculptures such as his chain tree, which barely resembles a tree until you're aware of what it is titled.
